Nuts for Trader Joe's

How much does Food Photography cost?

There are many variables that determine the final cost of food photography.

  1. Number of Marketing Images you need for the present and the future
  2. Length of the Shoot - Preparing and styling food can often take time to ensure that the product looks savory. Consequently, the number images that can be
shot within an eight-hour window can vary.
  3. Food & Prop stylists - The stylists charge by half or full day.
  4. Props & Food cost - The need for specific flatware, plates, and other props
affect your costs as the stylist will need to find them.
  5. The Complexity of each image can also attribute to overall costs. Different food stuffs, such as ice cream and cold drinks, tend to take longer to setup and shoot.
  6. The intricacy of background and how many other props or food items in the background plays a huge role. Outline shots (food items without a background) will often lower costs as they are easier to shoot.

The number of things that affect the cost of food photography can be overwhelming. However, it is not necessary to have the 'best' of everything during your sessions. Understanding some of these items can help you reduce costs.
